Welcoming the government's 100-day programme that lays emphasis on sectors that have been majorly affected by the global financial meltdown, industry body Ficci today said President Pratibha Patil has unveiled a growth-centric agenda for the new UPA government.
President Patil in her address to the joint sitting of Parliament spoke about several reform issues, from disinvestment and passing pending reform bills to reforms in education and health.
Ficci President Harsh Pati Singhania said, "These reforms and institutional proposals can usher India in to the next phase of growth".
Sectors that the government has prioritised for immediate attention include SMEs, exports, textiles, commercial vehicles, infrastructure and housing.
The chamber expressed its concern over the decision of the government to have public accountability for NREGA.
According to Ficci,"Decision to present five annual reports by the government to the people on education, health, employment, environment and infrastructure will bring about more transparency in the system ensuring better governance" . Business Standard
