ABOUT CENTAD MEDIA & NETWORK PROGRAMMES DEMYSTIFYING TRADING PUBLICATION

Trade in Services and India: Prospects and Strategies

south asia trade and development year bookThe Centad publication ‘Trade in Services and India: Prospects and Strategies’ was released during the second annual South Asian Conference on Trade and Development, organised by Centad at the Park Hotel, New Delhi, on December 19-20, 2006.

Services constitute approximately half of the GDP of developing countries, and trade in services is the fastest growing sector in world trade. Trade in services occupies 30% of India’s exports. However, in spite of the growing importance of services, the currently available reference material is inadequate and often unavailable at a single reference point.

‘Trade in Services and India: Prospects and Strategies’ fills this gap. It is published by Wiley India, and edited by Dr Rupa Chanda, professor at the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.

The book has a foreword by Professor Jagdish Bhagwati of Columbia University . Click here to view the foreword in PDF format.

Key objectives of the publication are:
To build a credible point of reference for trade in services and India.
To contribute negotiating inputs for Indian trade negotiators.

The publication will be useful reading for trade policy makers, trade policy researchers, students, academicians, civil society organisations dealing in areas of international trade and development, research and policy organisations and businesses engaging in trade in services.
