An agricultural economist by profession and has extensively working on International Trade, Agriculture Policies and Development. He was earlier a Faculty at the University of Delhi. His area of expertise is Food Security and has worked on buffer stocking policies of Government of India and was associated with the 5th Technical Working Group for Buffer Stocking for India for the Tenth Five Year Plan. He is currently the member of the Expert Group on Agriculture Bio-Diversity and Normally Traded Goods, Government of India. His exposure includes Natural Resource Management, Nutrition, Cotton, Water-Food Security and Regional Planning.

Research Staff
Ranja Sengupta - Fellow
Having acquired M.Phil in Economics from the Centre for Economics Studies and Planning, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, she has worked in the fields of agricultural economics, human development and international trade. She has concentrated on issues of agrarian relations, poverty, inequality and gender issues. She has worked with the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy, New Delhi and Economic Research Foundation, New Delhi, and has published papers and articles in various books and websites. She has contributed commissioned papers to the Department of Economic and Social affairs (DESA) of the United Nations, New York, UNDP India for West Bengal Human Development Reports, the Centre for Poverty Analysis, Sri Lanka, and Oxfam International. She is currently working on a programme on human development with focus on poverty and inequality in income, consumption, social indicators and gender.
Santhosh - Associate Fellow
Santhosh is working as an Associate Fellow with Centad. He holds an MSW degree from MG university, Kottayam and an Mphil degree from JNU, New Delhi. He is also pursuing his Ph D from Centre of Social Medicine and Community Health, JNU. He has about 7 years of research experience on Indian pharmaceutical industry and access to medicines. His areas of interest are trade and public health, Access to medicines, and political economy of health. Before joining Centad, he was working as a research associate with the Delhi Team of Tracing Pharmaceuticals in South Asia (TPSA) project, which is jointly taken up by The University of Edinburgh, Scotland and Centre for Health and Social Justice, New Delhi. He has a wide range of field experience in working in rural, tribal and urban settings. His hobbies are music, movies and travel.
Divya Sharma - Associate Fellow
Possess domain expertise in driving projects for environmentally sustainable agriculture, industrial development, occupational and environmental health and safety, urban & rural environmental management. A keen planner with expertise in project appraisal, evaluation, impact analysis, resource planning and deployment, project estimation, scheduling, tracking and implementation. An effective communicator with exceptional relationship management skills with hands on experience in networking with Consultants, NGOs, Government agencies and safeguarding the interests of beneficiaries and stakeholders, concurrently.

Roopam Singh - Research Assistant
Roopam Singh is Assistant Research Fellow at Centre for Trade and Development (Centad), New Delhi. Prior to joining Centad she was working as a Research Consultant, Economic Justice Campaign with OxfamGB, New Delhi. She started her professional career as Senior Research Fellow, G. B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar. She has total work experience of 5 years 6 months.
She earned Masters in Development Studies from Center for Development Studies & Activities, University of Pune, Pune. She has her second Master’s in Fisheries Sciences from G. B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar. She also has a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Rights and Law, Indian Law Society (ILS) Law College, Pune
The Projects and studies under taken are - ‘The Gender Impact of the EU India FTA on the Indian Economy: Agriculture’; Case study on Indo-EU Free Trade Agreement: Telecommunication Sector; Case Study on Indo-EU Free Trade Agreement: IT Sector; Effectiveness of Contract Farming Practices for Agricultural Development and Equity: A Case of Hoshiarpur district in Punjab. Implications of the Inland Fish Policies on the Rights and Livelihood of Traditional Inland Fishing Communities; and Evaluation of the performance of different diets in the growth of Indian Major Carps, using key enzymes. She was Joint Coordinator for the Training Programme on Research Methodologies in Social Sciences with Special emphasis on Trade and Development, organised by Center for Trade and Development (Centad). As a joint coordinator the responsibilities under taken were organizing the event, and raising fund for the event.
She has published an occasional paper on Effectiveness of Contract farming practices for agricultural development and equity: A case of Hoshiarpur district with Center for Trade and Development, New Delhi,
Her research interest lies in Agriculture and agriculture allied subjects, particularly issues of domestic trade in agriculture, National and State policies in Fisheries and Agriculture, issues relating to equity, poverty and post liberalization debates in agriculture and issues relating to international trade and quality standards in fisheries and Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) in Agriculture.

Kalipada Chatterjee - Senior Consultant Climate Change Programme
He has more than 20 Years of Experience in the field of Climate Change and was a Full time consultant with Ministry of Environment & Forest (1989 – 1991), Representing in the first Asia- Pacific Conference on Climate Change.
He was the Head, Climate Change Centre, Development Alternatives, (1991 – 2005) and the Senior Advisor, Climate Change, Winrock International India. (2005 – 2009).
Unique experience of taking active part in the UNFCCC Conference Cop – 1 (Berlin – 1995) and Cop-13 (Berlin – 2007)
Editor of One Book in Climate Change and Co Author of two more books on Climate Change.
Published more than 60 Papers and Articles in the field of Climate Change.

Jayashree Gopalan - Programme Officer
Jayashree Gopalan has done B.Sc Physics (Hons) and Degree course in Company Secretaryship from Madras University and before she joined Centad, she was working with Johnson & Johnson Ltd and Oxfam G.B. in Economic Justice Campaign. She has also undergone a certificate courses on Disaster Risk Reduction, Trade and Gender from IIFT and Resource Mobilisation from Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan. She is building up her capacities in Climate Change issues as well. Her areas of interests are music, cooking, travel and shopping.
Manuj Jain
Having completed my graduation in B.Sc. Mathematics from Venkateswara College, Delhi University, Manuj has worked with American Express Bank. He is currently pursuing L.L.B. from Faculty of Law, Delhi University and has interest in sports, travel and awareness of social issues.
