ECORYS Netherlands BV along with its consortium partners CUTS International and Centad is organising an event titled ' India-EU FTA Trade Sustainability Impact Assessment (TSIA) Workshop ' to be held on June 23, 2008.
This workshop is part of the study titled, 'Trade Sustainability Impact Assessment of an FTA between the European Union and the Republic of India' being conducted by ECORYS Netherlands BV along with CUTS International and Centad. The purpose of this workshop is to involve civil society and key stakeholders to the FTA process in general and this study in particular.
The workshop aims at:
. Firstly, the Trade SIA Workshop - in line with the Trade Sustainability Impact Assessment Handbook - aims to inform civil society and key stakeholders in the process about the methodology of the SIA and the goals to be reached.
. Secondly, the Workshop aims to ensure a better understanding of the whole Trade SIA methodology and the role of stakeholder consultation in it.
. Thirdly, ECORYS and its consortium partners want to discuss the results of Phase 1 (a global analysis of India and the EU and general equilibrium modeling of potential effects as well as a screening exercise to focus the rest of the study), the Global Analysis Report (to be found at: http://www.tsia.ecorys.com/india under 'downloads') with the Indian and EU stakeholders and gather their views and critiques on these results. The opinions of Indian and EU businesses, social and environmental NGOs, trade unions and other members of civil society are regarded as highly important inputs for the study and a core component of the Trade SIA process. Based on these inputs, changes in the report and in the subsequent phases of the study can and will be made.
All the comments received in the Workshop will be discussed by the consultant team and serve to increase the quality of the analysis and the reports.
