The Post-graduate Department of Economics of the Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj (RTM) Nagpur University, the Institute of Chinese Studies, New Delhi, and Centre for Trade and Development (Centad) are organising an international seminar on ‘Post Multi Fibre Agreement (MFA) Scenario: A comparative study of China and India’.
Venue
The seminar will be held in the Department of Economics, University of Nagpur on January 27-28, 2006.
Obejctives
The objectives of the seminar are:
- to provide new insights into the post-ATC (Agreement on Textiles and Clothing) scenario in international trade in textiles to academics, researchers and other stakeholders
- to develop a white paper on economic viability of textile units under the WTO regime.
Dr Bhalchandra Mungekar, member, Planning Commission, will inaugurate the seminar. Dr S N Pathan, vice chancellor, RTM Nagpur University will preside over the function. Also present will be Prof Zhang Youwen from the Institute of World Economics, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Shanghai; Dr Samar Verma, Executive Director, Centad; Mr A S Sisidiya, Asst Vice President, Indowordth India Ltd, Butibori; and Ms Abha Shukla, Director, Textile Commission, Government of Maharashtra.
Valedictory function
The valedictory function of the international seminar will be held on January 28, 2006 at 4 pm in the Auditorium, NBSS and LVP, Amravati Road, Nagpur.
Mr Jayant Patil, finance minister, Government of Maharashtra will be the chief guest for the valedictory session. The president of the session will be Dr S N Pathan, VC, RTM Nagpur University. Dr L B Kalantri, Director, Sericulture, Government of Maharashtra will be the guest of honour.
