Updates from UNFCCC, Poznan

UNFCCC is holding the COP14/MOP4 during 1-13, December 2008 at Poznan, Poland. Given the current intensification of the discourse on climate change issues and implicatios on the development agenda across the world, the forthcoming meeting is believed to be the beginning of the “year of negotiations” to develop a sustainable framework of climate resilient world.

In this regard the issues of equity, burden sharing, new quantification processes have been mooted at various levels. Technology transfer and financing issues became the most deliberated issues since the COP 13. However, the MRV issues have been regarded as one of the important tools in this context. Over the last one year since the last COP, while there has not been much progress on issues mentioned above, the need for acting now have been the buzzword. Therefore the forthcoming UNFCCC meeting at Poznan is seen as the most important and vital opportunities to take forward the debate.

Centad representative will be participating in this meeting. Regular updates will be posted on the website for its subscribers during this period.
